Victory in the Wear Area Battle

Many thanks to everyone that turned up to support Durham PS in winning the friendly “Wear Area Battle” trophy at Washington CC on Friday 23rd November. There were 9 clubs competing in the 40th Annual Competition and DPS achieved 162 points to win the trophy outright.

DPS was in competition with Stanhope, Consett, Sunderland, Castleside, Washington, Esh Winning, Chester le St and Wear Valley.

The competition was judged by Dave Coates ARPS, ESFIAP, EFIAP/p, APSA, EPSA, MPAGB, APAGB who gave an excellent performance demonstrating his skills and experience when analyzing and critiquing this photo competition. The trophy was presented by Jane Black ARPS, FPSA, Hon.PAGB former Regional Organiser for the Royal Photographic Society and currently Chairman of the NCPF International Salon.

Congratulations to Neil Maughan for his ‘Frozen Copse’ image which achieved the maximum of 30 points, our highest scoring picture and presented with the award for the best image in the competition. Other highest scoring images were Michael Watson’s Red Deer in Snow on 29 points and his Mountain Hare in Snow with 28 points. Neil’s image ‘Smack’ achieved 27 points.
