Results night: 1st Progress Prints

As advised on this website and DPS Facebook Group the event had to be cancelled due to extreme weather – by far the safest option. The results night will now take place 22nd March replacing a Members night that will be re-scheduled

NCPF Competitions

The NCPF Annuals are now closed for PDI entries. Closing date was 1st March to Tony Mearman. However, closing date for prints has been extended to next Thursday, 8th March

Next Digital Night

Wednesday 7th March, County Hall, 6.30 pm. Details to follow and you can put in requests to Dave Murrell

Assignment Beamish

Review Night: Dunelm Club next Tuesday 6th March at 7pm. Bring 3 prints up to A4 size, one of which should be of the challenge. See earlier NewsBlog from Dave Murrell

Meantime, send up to 5 images from your day at a resolution of 1600 x 1200 JPG with sRGB colour space to Dave Murrell and title each image with your name and a sequence number

Spring Lake District Photography Weekend

New! The Jeff Teasdale Lakes Experience moves from Autumn to Springtime – 25th to 27th May, staying at the Blencathra Centre. Jeff is taking bookings from now. There is a booking form with all the information you need at the club

Durham PS Photography Challenge 2018

Members can borrow a see-through glass mannequin head for a week at a time and use their photography skills to include them in photographs. Please return the following week.

There will be a members’ night showing results: 15th November – The Society Challenge, Your Images on View

DPS Botanic Garden Exhibition

This annual DPS event will be for the month of May this year. Hon Life Member Don Bennett DPAGB is organising. Room for 47 prints in 20×16 inch mounts which need to be in by 29th March. Sign up on the notice board to secure a place

Annual Exhibition Durham Cathedral

Theme is “Co Durham Heritage” which includes the area from Tyne to Tees and across to the Pennines (not as previously reported!). The show will be in the glorious North Aisle of the Cathedral and be on for the month of August. More to follow soon

Competition Countdown – 100 days to the Fillingham!

Next closing date is for the Des Kelly Trophy (best landscape print NCPF region) and Lambert Hedley Cup (best print portrait) Thursday 22nd March judged by the legendary Malcolm Kus ARPS DPAGB EFIAP/b from the Black Country, more recently Alnwick

New this year: President’s set subject for the Fillingham Trophy is “The Moment” – 103 days to closing date!

Also new, the Sterling Award PDI subject is “Humour”. And this year there will be 5 on a theme (rather than 5 or 6) in the Hon Members Cup (prints) and Digital Trophy (PDI). Details on the Competitions page and in your printed programme

Club Laptop for Sale

We have invested in a new, high spec laptop for projecting digital images. So our Sony Viao, also high spec, is for sale to one lucky member. General Secretary Mike Boult is taking sealed bids up to Thursday 8th next week
