Summer School Club Night News: 3rd August

DPS Memorial Summer School Portrait Night:

There was a huge turnout of members and friends for the first night of the DPS Memorial Summer School season. There were three set ups inside – Peter Walton’s strobe lighting, Darren and Joanne’s continuous lighting complete with ring light, temperature and brightness controls, and Angy’s green screen. Ouside, Dave Murrell led fill-in flash and natural light sessions. Never has St Cuthbert’s Hall and surroundings seen so many active cameras at any one time. The models (and make up artists), Sam, Victoria, Natasha and Deb, were superb in every way – the appreciative photographers can email some of their best pictures directly to them

The event was devised and masterminded by Angy Ellis who reminded us Summer School was in memory of members who have passed, most recently including our beloved Robin Wallace. Obituaries of four of them by David Trout LRPS are here

Next up in Summer School is Painting with Light – using a whole range of techniques with Sandra Hewitson and Chris

DPS Annual Exhibition: Treasures of the North

The exhibition of 90 framed prints is on for the month of August in the North Aisle of Durham Cathedral

Members can steward the exhibition and enjoy meeting the public. Just turn up, identity lanyards will be on site. Be very respectful during worship. Opening and service times are here

Durham Cathedral is of course a World Heritage Site and, co-incidentally, The Treasures of St Cuthbert exhibition opened 29th July which has attracted yet more visitors link
