NCPF 2016 Annual Competitions: Awards, Alliance entry and Selectors’ choice

Originally scheduled for 29th June, this was brought forward due to Mark Parvin being unable to make it because of a severe back injury. We look forward to Mark being with us 29th June

It was good to see so many excellent entries from members of clubs right across the Northern Photographic Federation, not least a good number from Durham PS

Judging and selection of the 2017 Annual Competitions takes place today and tomorrow at Tynemouth link

Assignment Tanfield Railway

The follow up meeting to show and discuss prints will be 7.00 pm next Tuesday 11th April at the Dunelm Club. Bring 4 A4 plus one of the challenge. Weather permitting, SNAP n CHAT #6 will be to the grounds of Auckland Castle, Bishop Auckland with live models Wednesday 26th April. Meet at the Castle entrance gates 10.30 a.m. The Castle is closed for refurbishment but the famous deer park is open with free entry

Digi Nights

After the successful event on Wednesday by David Hickman, the next meeting is Wednesday 3rd May 6.30 pm County Hall.

PftNE Craftspeople of the North Exhibition

It’s now on at Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens in the gorgeous ground floor pottery room until 2nd May. See opening event pictures here

DPS Botanic Garden Exhibition

Set up day is 1st May, 9.30 a.m. Volunteers needed for a very enjoyable experience (Don Bennett is organising). The exhibition is on for the month of May. More about the Durham University Botanic Garden is here

DPS UHND Exhibition

Our permanent display at the hospital is due for a changeover at the beginning of June. Contact organiser Barry Armitage if you would like to take part

DPS Annual Exhibition

In Durham Cathedral, voted National Heritage Site of the Year by BBC Countryfile magazine ( link ). This will be for the month of August, around 100 prints. NB It will be an exhibition on the theme of “Treasures of the North”. More details will follow

Only in the North

To celebrate the current Only in England Tony Ray-Jones and Martin Parr exhibition at Bowes Museum (on until 7th May) the Museum is inviting photographers to take inspiration from the show and to share their own unique images of Northern England. £1000 first prize for over 18’s! There is an under 18 section also with prizes of Impossible Cameras in both sections

Closing date is 23rd April. More information is on the Notice Board and here

NCPF Beamish Weekend

20th to 21st May, will include a selling exhibition of members’ prints. More information is on the Notice Board and on the NCPF website here and Beamish website here

Lake District Photography Weekend

The Jeff Teasdale Lakes Experience is 3rd to 5th November, and Jeff has a proforma to fill in to make a booking. Payment (deposit or in full) is due by 29th June but book your place soon. Staying at the Field Studies Council, Blencathra Centre near Keswick for two nights Friday and Saturday. Check out the poster on the Notice board.

AV Show Night

27th July – open to all members to show their Audio Visual slide shows. David Forster is organising. Register an interest and start producing your AV now! If you need help, ask!

This Weekend

Next Meeting: Thursday 13th April

It will be a members’ night! Specifically “An Evening with our own Assignments Group”. Organiser David Forster has produced a cracking Audio Visual presentation (early birds had a glimpse last night). This is looking like being one of the highlights of the year

Note: the meeting 4th May will be at County Hall due to St Oswalds being a polling station and with the earlier start time of 7.00 pm
